Topographic Land Survey

Bolt Topography boasts a wealth of experience in conducting land surveys spanning diverse sectors and projects of all scales. Employing cutting-edge survey technology enables us to rapidly deliver accurate detailed spatial data. Conducting a thorough assessment of all relevant factors before commencement, we can advise on the most efficient methods to attain your objectives.

A topographical survey, often referred to as a "topo survey" or "topographic survey," is a detailed and accurate representation of the physical features and natural characteristics of a piece of land. The purpose of a topographical survey is to map the three-dimensional positions of both natural and man-made features on the terrain. This information is crucial for various applications, including urban planning, engineering design, construction projects, and environmental assessments.

In the realm of design and planning, architects and engineers heavily rely on land survey data. It guides decisions related to building placement, infrastructure layout, and other critical aspects - optimising the use of available space and ensuring efficient project design.

Setting Out Engineering

We take pride in our comprehensive approach to Site Engineering/Setting Out. Our commitment extends from the initial phases of construction to the post-completion stage, ensuring that your project aligns with your vision and meets the highest standards.

Our site engineers use their technical know-how to transform the project design into reality, and implement it in real-time. They precisely set out and establish guidelines for various trades, ensuring alignment of all project elements. Our services encompass as-built engineering surveys, as well as volume and cut-and-fill calculations.

But that's not the extent of our contribution. By being present on-site and seamlessly integrating into your team, we bring added value by identifying and mitigating potential issues. Our proactive approach allows us to provide timely solutions to challenges that may arise during the course of the project.

Measured Building Surveying

Measured Building Surveys utilising cutting-edge survey technology enabling us to rapidly capture and deliver accurate detailed spatial data.

Measured building surveys are commonly conducted for various reasons, including architectural design, renovations, space planning and documentation of as-built conditions.

A detailed measured building survey is an accurate representation of your building. Consisting of elevations, floor plans, sections, and roof plans, it is vital to the design and planning stage of your project.

Utility Survey

The detection, identification, location, and protection of Underground Utilities is paramount to any construction proposal. Using non-intrusive methods, and utilising the latest in industry technology: Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and Electro-magnetic Location (EML), we can map and record utilities as well as provide clear and detailed reports of underground infrastructure minimising the risk of damage to utilities.

Together with a topographical survey we can provide a comprehensive understanding of the above and below ground infrastructure.

To accompany our Utility mapping service, we can also provide CCTV Pipeline Condition Surveys using the latest in sewer inspection technology. A motorised tractor crawler system with built in Radio Sonde allows us to inspect drainage network conditions in high definition - creating comprehensive reports in the process and allows us to map the route from the surface.

3D Laser Scanning

A 3D laser scan emits laser beams towards a target object or surface and measures the time it takes for the laser pulses to bounce back. These time measurements, combined with angular information, enable the scanner to calculate a highly precise distance and orientation of each point on the object’s surface. Multiple laser beams are rapidly emitted from various angles to capture a dense set of 3D coordinates, creating a point-cloud representation of the object.

A 3D laser scan of a building can yield valuable deliverables, including raw point-cloud data, 3D meshes or models, floor plans, elevations, sections and profiles. These are essential for architectural and engineering design, space planning, as-built documentation, clash detection, facility management and historical preservation. They provide a highly accurate and detailed representation of the building’s geometry and condition, which helps stakeholders make informed decisions for renovations, construction projects, facility management and more. The specific deliverables produced depend on the project’s objectives and requirements.

Engineering Survey

Engineering surveys are conducted in a similar way to Topographic or Measured Building surveys but normally occur on Civil Engineering or specialist projects where millimetre level accuracy is of critical importance.
